The BMW 7 Series meets 38-year welcoming its sixth generation. One of the models of reference of the segment F from its appearance, and today, more than ever, reaffirms his condition of a showcase of technology.

The BMW 7-Series reaches its sixth generation after 38 years of history that have always advocated a very personal style of the vehicle of representation. Once more, the flagship of BMW’s bet for a recipe where the maximum is none other than to offer an arsenal of unprecedented technological, as is the case of the laser illumination, parking, self-contained remote or the gestural control of multimedia interfaces.

Six generations and 38 years of BMW 7-series. This is their story in images.

The first of the story. The BMW 7-Series (code E23). Its predecessor was known as the BMW New Six and was produced from 1977 to 1987.

The first BMW 7 Series highlighted by the introduction of the first injection systems digital Bosch Motronic, a “check control” for the management of engine breakdown, and comfort items, such as electric seats and heated, or a revolutionary system of air conditioning.

In 1986 introducing the second generation (E32) BMW 7-Series, betting on the supply of an important arsenal of technology. BMW made the 7 Series in its best showcase.

The arsenal technology seemed like science fiction with the advent of stability control, air conditioning multi-zone or chiller containers. In addition, in full swing of telecommunications, the BMW 7-Series E32 could install satellite phone and fax.

The growth under the hood was unstoppable. With the launch of the BMW 750i the BMW 7 Series was able to reach the 300 Km/h thanks to its new V12 engine of 300 HP, although it was the first BMW in adhering to the agreement of self-limit the speed to 250 Km/h for safety.

From 1994 to 2001, the BMW 7-Series was represented by the generation E38. His biggest challenge was to offer a range of engines, incredibly large for the time, by releasing the first engines diesel with outputs of up to 245 HP.

it Is in this generation when BMW offers a greater emphasis on their version of battle extended, especially the one associated with the gasoline engine V12 5.4 liter. This engine would be mounted at the very Mclaren F1.

once more, the BMW 7-Series defended his bet as a showcase of technology. If important was the introduction of the cruise control or curtain airbags, it still was the arrival of the navigation system through guided GPS.

With the arrival of the BMW 7-Series E65/E66 (2002 to 2009), we were all perplexed by the important change of direction introduced by the then head of BMW design Chris Bangle. Its edges and angles are still today are easily recognizable. This generation was responsible for carrying the headlights of Xenon to a vehicle from series production for the first time.

Although this generation of the BMW 7 Series was highly criticized, it is certain that its design allowed BMW to abandon the classicism that had been kept in its previous generations. Later, she received a restyling that matizaría all the risks run by Bangle. It is also worthy of mention is the BMW Hydrogen 7, 100 units built to convince the world to change the use of gasoline by Hydrogen in combustion engines. Time after the project was abandoned due to the lack of support beyond Mazda.

But if risky was its exterior design, yet it was more the first time introduction of the system iDrive of BMW. It was the first time that a single remote controlled everything. The system was not all intuitive to be assumed and had numerous problems, however, it was the pioneer of the multimedia revolution that is still relying on approaches very similar to this system iDrive.

BMW 7-Series F01/02 (2008 to 2015). BMW recovered the stylistic patterns of the 7-Series of yesteryear, leaving all the prominence in the innumerable advances, systems security and technologies introduced. Their genes could not have more character, since the platform used is the same that supports the Rolls-Royce modern.

In this new generation, BMW was required to demonstrate that their mastery of the infotainment system iDrive was much higher. Thanks to the connection to the internet and a significant improvement of all their functions, including new features like the night vision, the system of BMW becomes one of the reference segment.

Another of the pillars that underpins the BMW 7-Series fifth generation is the program BMW Individual, where the signature of Munich allows to reach an endless number of configurations, and customizations for the interior and exterior. Only the budget seems to be a barrier in this type of programs that every time they enjoy greater possibilities.

The hybrids begin to be a real alternative. With the arrival of the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is not expected to have great sales, only to see that the process of downsizing is irreversible and the maximum efficiency is already a priority.

here is the BMW 7-Series 2016 (internal code G12). Great progress in all fields and the same sobriety in all its traits. Its arrival to the market occurs in the most complicated possible because of a competition that has no limits to the time of the offering of innovations and the Mercedes S-Class as the best example.

Hidden beneath its structure we have the Carbon Core, the first chassis, multi-material made of carbon fiber, aluminum, and steel. The BMW 7-Series 2016 want to stand by agility and efficiency, and this new design will be a key point to achieve this.

As with every new generation, the BMW 7-Series has to get to be the first in many things. Since several generations ago BMW has been proposed to lead to the offer of multimedia, bringing now the gestural control system ConnectedDrive (a natural substitute of the BMW iDrive) as one of the most important advances in this field, to simplify actions and to limit distractions behind the wheel.

But if there is something that can leave us with the mouth open, that will see the new BMW 7 Series 2016 park alone without anyone inside the car. A special controller will let you park with the press of a single button.
