Williams: the negotiations with Paddy Lowe is “independent” of the of Bottas

Before it was announced the departure of Paddy Lowe to Mercedes, they began to arise about the information that alleged that one of the men key to the success of the German brand had not reached an agreement with Toto Wolff to renew its contract and, therefore, he would go to Williams to replace Pat Symonds.

But Claire Williams has denied that the negotiations on Valtteri Bottas with the Mercedes connected with the recruitment of Paddy Lowe. “For us are two different things. Obviously, we need a Technical Director now that Pat Symonds has left the team, and he will return us to where Williams should be, which is to win races and championships”, said the Deputy Director of Williams Sky Sports.

Williams takes time trying to get back to the elite of the Formula 1 -not in vain is the third most successful team in history – and Claire Williams sees Paddy Lowe the manager to perfect the technical resources of the team. “Obviously, someone like Paddy (Lowe) that is available is attractive to us. He has guided a team to three consecutive world titles. Of course, I would be at the top of our list, it would be a move to fantastic. He began his career at Williams and what team wouldn’t want someone like Paddy Lowe”, said Claire. Lowe started his career in Formula 1 in Williams, remaining on the team between 1987 and 1993 as responsible of electronics and developing the sophisticated active suspension that took Nigel Mansell to sweep the championship 1992.
